Virginia Educators Credit Union recognizes the importance of education. Therefore, we encourage our graduating high school seniors and educators to apply for the student scholarship and teacher mini-grants VECU helps support financially.

• Wayne D. Lett Scholarship — Supported by the NN Education Foundation within Newport News Public Schools (NNPS).  This merit based $10,000 scholarship is awarded over four years to a graduating high school senior who plans to become a public-school teacher.  The application is accessible on the NNPS website. 

 

• Teacher Innovation Mini Grants — Supported by the NN Education Foundation in partnership with the National Council of Jewish Women.  This program offers classroom mini grants up to $500 to NNPS teachers.  Mini grants provide “seed money” for innovative classroom initiatives.  The application is accessible on the NNPS website.
